||My first experience with linguistics was phonology, so I fell in love with phonology. Then came syntax and (formal) semantics, both of which captivated me instantly. So now I'm a bit confused whom to choose, but it now seems I will stick with syntax/semantics ;) Besides, I have had some practical experience with computational linguistics, and I really liked this intersection of the theoretical and the practical. Besides, I have friends who have already been to Egg and it was a very nice experience for them.
(As far as linguistics is concerned, I'm an undergrad student, and I have a degree in finance and economics dating from my pre-linguistics life.)
