Research methods in linguistics

The purpose of this weekly course is to give students a taste of how
research is done in linguistics. We shall look into how a linguistic
problem is defined, how data is found and delimited, how hypotheses are
formulated and how arguments can be evaluated. The course will not be a
lecture and students taking the course should expect to do some 'homework'.
A firm grounding in syntax is desirable.
