Interrogatives in child language: issues at the syntax/semantics interface (10 classes)
Hamida Demirdache
We explore some of the issues that the acquisition of (Long-Distance) questions and complementation raise for the syntax-semantics mapping in language development. Issues discussed include the syntactic typology of LD questions in L1 acquisition (indirect/direct scope marking strategies, wh-copying, wh-clefts, wh-in-situ, aternative questions, concealed question strategies), the felicity conditions of LD questions in L1 acquisition, syntactic/semantic arguments for (full vs. partial) movement in LD questions (whatever their overt syntax).
