I've been studying linguistics for five years now. Initially I began studying foreign languages, specifically German and French, and then became interested in the field of linguistics. I am most interested in most areas of linguistics, but I do have a particular interest in some specific sub-fields. Anthropological linguistics has been of great interest to me. In particular, I am interested in indigenous languages of the Americas and language preservation. Polysynthetic syntax and morphology is also of great interest to me. Language variation, including dialectology, diachronic linguistics, and sociolinguistic variation is another field that I would like to study in depth.
I am eager to further my understanding of all areas of linguistics. I have just finished my undergraduate degree in German and linguistics and plan to begin a graduate linguistics program in the fall of 2010. This summer I will be studying French in France and as my time in Europe coincides with the Egg Summer program, it provides me with the perfect opportunity to experience advanced linguistic study beyond the scope that has been offered to me in my undergraduate program.
