I am a fourth-year student at the Department of English,University of Novi Sad, specializing in linguistics. In totally honest and slightly emphatic terms, this year's program is a dream come for me! During my studies, I have taken various linguistics courses - from Introduction to linguistics, Phonology, (Lexical) Semantics and Pragmatics, to several courses in Generative grammar. Although not directly related to language acquisition and SLI, they definitely sparkled my interest in them. Unfortunately, the universities in Serbia do not provide any courses on this topic in particular, so I could develop my interest only as far as what is available for general audience (Pinker's Language Instinct, for example). Since I would really (really!) like my further research to be in this area, I feel I simply can't miss the chance to finally get a proper systematic guidance into how I can actually do it, which is what Poznan09 certainly seems to offer. Although I can't promise I won't sneak into some of the advanced syntax courses (force of habit). |
