I would like to participate in the egg because I have a deep interest in a number of issues relating to generative syntax. I've been doing research in the following domains: comparative morphosyntax of Germanic and Slavic languages, derivational and representational aspects of Minimalism (early vs. late Minimalism, derivation by phase), movement vs. agree - based theories of Control, T-C movement in Slavic languages as well as syntax-related aspects of language acquisition and language evolution.
This years egg offers a wide spectrum of classes that fit within my 'narrow' research purposes, i.e. the acquisition of binding (S. Varlokosta's class),acquisition of aspect (N. Gagarina's class), neuromorphology (L. Stockall) as well as the syntax of case (D. Pesetsky's class). Additionally, I find a number of other topics (especially those related to Optimality Theory and semantics)an interesting extension of my linguistic interests.
I would like to take part in this year's egg because I think it will give me a unique chance to participate in linguistic discussions and meet interesting people. Ultimately, I am hoping to gain new knowledge and experience in the fields of linguistics I have been dealing in so far and, potentially, extend onto other related research fields. |
