I have studied linguistics and generative grammar for the past 5-6 years and I am currently pursuing a PhD thesis on adverbial reconstruction in English and Romanian. I am also enrolled at Geneva University for 2009-2010 at Certificat de Specialisation en Linguistique.
I am interested in the study of comparative constructions, ellipsis and other constructions which involve LF licensing and PF deletion or other reconstruction phenomena. The academic papers I have written so far deal with the functioning of exception, addition and opposition adverbials in Romanian and clitics. I have participated at several conferences in Cluj, Bucharest, Chisinau and I have a forthcoming conference in Valencia in September.
I want to come to the EGG because I attended the 2004 edition, while I was only an undergraduate. The EGG school 2004 is one of the reasons why I started studying Generative Grammar seriously. I believe that I have many things to learn or specialize in and the EGG can help me by giving me new ideas for further research. Moreover, I would like to meet the professors whose books I have read and understand more about nanosyntax, an approach I got acquainted with this year in Geneva at a research seminar. |
