Hello, I hope this is going to be my second egg-year. I finally wrote a thesis on syllable and syllabification last year and now I am doing a MA in Linguistics in Pisa. My main areas of interest are phonology and computational phonology, but I also had the opportunity to appreciate some compositional semantics and diachronic syntax. At the moment, I am still keeping myself busy with syllable, comparing various theoretical approches (GP, OT, ANN etc.) that could be implemented on a corpus of spoken language and see if the results are consistent with the recorded acoustic data. Even though I often use statistical tools, I try to adopt an approach which is as cognitive as possible (i.e., generative of course :)).
I guess this year school is going to be particularly interesting for me. I look forward to seeing you in Constanta.
PS What a shame there are no GP classes this year. |
