I began my studies of linguistics in the historical branch, but after a while of acquiring basic knowledge of some "standard" ancient languages (with a focus on Germanic and Slavic), I found that it involved too much extra-linguistic history and switched to theoretical linguistics. In this area, I have taken particular interest in two kind of opposite sides of generative linguistics: Semantics and Government Phonology, and with the latter in the relation between phonology, morphology and syntax. This year's EGG, featuring two courses on morphophonology with Jochen Trommer, would surely be a great opportunity to enlarge my far from profound knowledge on these issues. |
