I am interested in the syntax of the verb phrase, more exactly that of intransitive verbs. At the moment, I am working on a comparison between English and Romance derived unaccusatives under the supervision of professor Ileana Baciu. I intend to focus mainly on the different behaviour of Italian, Romanian and English derived unaccusatives and to contrast the way the floating nature of unaccusatives is present in these three languages.
I study at the University of Bucharest at the English Department and I have taken several courses in linguistics among which: the syntax of the NP and the VP (held by professor Alexandra Cornilescu and professor Ileana Baciu), phonology, morphology, comparative grammar and several electives among which: feature geometry, language and mind.
In April 2007, I participated at the Linguistics Conference which is held every year by our Department. My paper is to be posted on the site of the Department in July.
In the future, I intend to specialize in syntax, more precisely in the syntax of the VP. Nevertheless, in order to do that I need to extend my research also in morphology and phonetics. Thus, this school represents a great opportunity for me to achieve my professional goals. |
