I only just completed my first year of undergrad studies in linguistics. I have taken introductory courses in phonetics, phonology, syntax, some diachronic linguistics and others. I have made a point to further deepen my understanding of what I study by complementing my course material with supplementary readings, and I have enjoyed attending lectures at McGill as well as Concordia. It's been really valuable and stimulating for me to seek out opportunities for exposure to issues in theoretical linguistics. I had the pleasure of attending the NAPhC (North American Phonology Conference) in May. In June I will be volunteering at the Summer Institute in Cognitive Science. This year the theme is on the evolution of language. I find it hard and somewhat pointless to try to narrow down my interests so early in my career. I am curious and passionate and sure that I have found my niche. I would love the chance to participate in this Summer's egg! |
