I am in my first year of the 2-year MA program in English Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. I am mostly interested in syntax and semantics, although I think I could benefit a lot from this year's EGG phonology theme, since phonology is a field I lack exposure to. Last year, I attended the EGG in Poznan and it was a great experience, since I got to take courses I otherwise would not have been able to take at my university, as well as to enjoy some informal discussions on language and linguistics, and hence I would like to repeat that experience this year. This year's line-up looks quite interesting and there are a lot of classes that I would like to attend, particularly: Determiner spreading, The theory of phonological representations, Introduction to parametric and microparametric variation, Nanosyntax, The syntax of ellipsis, Recent developments in (the theory of) ergativity and Advanced primer to syntactic agreement. I will also be writing my MA thesis next year, so I hope to get some inspiration for my thesis at the EGG, since I'm still undecided about the topic. And lastly, of course, I would also like to see some of the friends I met last year, as well as to meet some new EGGs. |
