I am an undergraduate at Eastern Michigan University, and student editor at LINGUIST List. I attended EGG last year in Debrecen, and found it to be one of the most exciting academic experiences I've had. Over the last year, many of my courses have been in semantics, psycholinguistics, and logic. As I continue to fall in love with semantics and build upon my previous studies in neuroscience (I previously worked in a lab studying the effects of medial septum damage to learning and memory), and I cannot imagine a better course selection for my current studies. In fact, while reviewing Dr. Zeijlstra's material, I've noticed that much of it is relevant to my interests (I am still studying quantifier raising, negative polarity items, scope, and structural ambiguity). I like having thoughtful discussions with students and professors, as this is the kind of setting that pushes people to take different points of view and come up with innovative concepts. I would be honored to be allowed to return the school again this year. |
